WOW.
Part of me doesn’t want to acknowledge the very obvious gap in the time since I’ve last updated my blog, but it would be so unfair to you and to me as well to act as if time (3 WHOLE YEARS!) hasn’t passed.
Well Hi! If you’re new here, my name is Tomi, (sometimes Adetomi depending on the audience) and I’m a lifestyle and style blogger. I love fashion, fragrance, interior design and Jesus. And honestly I’m just happy to be here.
I just got back from a trip to the motherland, Nigeria after 9 years away and after so much that has happened in the past few years, I just feel inspired to write again. I’ve had a few urges over the years, but now I’m back for the long haul. I love creating and creating loves me lol. Let’s go through the updates shall we?
Life
Life itself has been pretty interesting since COVID, I’m sure for all of us. I moved back home to Texas after getting a new job in August 2020 and have lived in Texas ever since. I went through a lot of growth going from 25 to presently 28. I grew emotionally, spiritually and professionally. I went through some life changes, some lessons learned hard, but all received gracefully. Overall I thank God for where He’s brought me. I fully committed my life to Him in March of this year, and life has been beautiful since then. I won’t say that it’s been easy because it hasn’t, but it’s definitely better with him in it.
Career
Things started going pretty good in my career since we last spoke. I got a role as a Systems Engineer/Technical Program manager and then as an Engineering Project Manager at a commercial aviation company. I love being a program manager and eventually got my Project Management Professional certification this year. Due to layoffs I’ve been out of work for a little over a year, but I trust that God has a plan. I taught 5th grade math for a period of time. It taught me so much about young people, and given the opportunity I would do it again, but now I’m trying to get back into my career as a PM.
Pets
My beloved Bentley unfortunately passed away in June of 2021 a few days after my 26th birthday. There was an accident involving the neighbor’s dogs that at this point is still to traumatic to recap. I loved Bentley so much but I’m grateful for the period he was in my life. I eventually got a new puppy in 2022. Her name is Reina and she’s a toy poodle. She’ll be 2 in February 2024 and she’s such a bright part of the family.
Love
I thought to include this, but honestly there’s not much to say here. The typical narrative is that there are no good men left, or conversations about red pill and blue pill areas of thought. But I’m of the opinion that life is what you make it. I’ve explored what it means to be a Godly feminine woman and developed myself accordingly.? And I can say, I’m very happy and content with this area of my life. Things could be different, but we are all a work in progress. I’m happy and that’s what matters.
Travel
I haven’t done as much travel as I would love but over the years I’ve made several trips: Miami, Washington DC but the best of all was a 10 day trip to Scotland with my girls! It was a blast and I’m so happy I got to experience that. I should probably do a recap post on that especially since I have SOOO many pictures from that trip! What do you think?
Hobbies
I picked up a few new hobbies but the most notable being fragrance and fragrance collecting. I love the science behind fragrance and how it makes you feel. How different smells can make you remember different memories. Right now I’m a novice, but I’m excited to explore this new hobby of mine. I’m also really loving interior design at the moment. I completely redid my room in my parent’s house recently. A few more finishing touches when I’m back in the country, (oh did I mention I’m currently in Ireland visiting family?) and we’ll be done! Excited to share that with you
It’s been great recapping the last few years. Is there anything you would like to see specifically? I love writing so much and it’s so exciting to do this again. I’ll be back before long! See you soon!
Much love,
xx Adetomi
You’re very welcome back. God got your back.
